This policy covers the Cartpath app for iPhone and this website, joincartpath.com. The short version: Cartpath keeps what it needs to be a logbook you share with your friends, and nothing else. There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell your information.
What the app collects
- Your account. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an identifier for your account and, if you allow it, your name and email address, which may be a private relay address Apple creates for you.
- Your profile. The name you go by in Cartpath and the colour of your avatar. Your profile photo stays on your iPhone and is never uploaded.
- Your phone number, if you enter it while setting up. It's kept with your account and isn't shown to other golfers.
- Your golf. The rounds you log (the course, date, score, tees, notes and the other details you fill in), the courses you rank, and who your friends are.
- Photos you attach to a round. Only the ones you choose. Cartpath never looks through your photo library on its own.
- Reports you send us, whether about a course or about something another golfer posted, together with your account's email address so we can reply.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your location. Cartpath uses it to show the courses around you and to speed up logging a round. It's never sent to us or stored by us.
- The assistant. Questions you ask Cartpath's assistant are answered by Apple's on-device model, and your conversations are saved only on your iPhone. If you speak instead of typing, Apple's speech recognition turns it into text — on your iPhone when it can, and otherwise under Apple's privacy policy.
- Your profile photo, your wishlist and the app's settings.
Who can see what
Cartpath is shared with your friends, and only your friends. They see your name, your rounds (except any you mark private), the photos on those rounds, and your rankings. Friends you tag on a round see that they were tagged.
When you share an invite link, anyone who opens it sees your first name, so they know who invited them. Nothing else from your profile is shown to them.
Round photos are stored with our hosting provider and shown through long, unguessable web addresses. Anyone who has a photo's exact address can view it, so treat a photo you post the way you'd treat one you send to your friends.
The services we use
These providers handle information on our behalf, only to run Cartpath:
- Supabase stores your account, your golf and your photos.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, maps and weather. When you open a course, its location (not yours) is used to fetch the weather.
- Open-Meteo provides the weather recorded on past rounds, looked up by the course's location.
- Resend delivers the reports you send to our inbox.
- Google Workspace hosts our email.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
Deleting your information
You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Settings. That permanently deletes your account, your profile, your rounds and their photos, your rankings and your friendships. Reports you've sent us are kept so we can finish handling them, but they're no longer tied to you. You can also delete any single round, with its photos, from the round itself.

This website
The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. The site loads its headline font from Fontshare, whose servers receive the same technical details as with any file loaded from a third party. An invite page looks up the first name of the friend who sent it.
Children
Cartpath isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
